If you want to understand what’s wrong with American healthcare, don’t start with hospitals or insurance companies. Start with the two groups who are supposed to be the most protected:
- our elderly
- our children
Because once you see how they are treated, you’ll see the entire system for exactly what it is: a compliance machine wrapped in medical language.
I learned this the hard way, watching my husband’s mother spend her final years drowning in prescription after prescription. Her “med list” was so long it looked like a CVS receipt. And the craziest part? Her doctor told her she couldn’t even drink bone broth.
This isn’t care.
This is control.
THE ABUSE OF THE ELDERLY: POLYPHARMACY AS A DEATH SENTENCE
Her list of medications wasn’t healthcare — it was chemical imprisonment.
Drug after drug stacked on top of each other until half the pills were there to manage the side-effects of the other half. No one checked interactions. No one adjusted. No one re-evaluated. Just refill after refill until the body gives out.
And meanwhile, nobody thinks to say:
“Maybe she needs sunshine, minerals, real food, walking, hydration, and fewer medications.”
They don’t even allow the bone broth — because the system is so pharmaceutical-driven that anything natural feels like a threat.
THE ABUSE OF CHILDREN: FEAR-BASED MEDICINE DISGUISED AS “CARE”
If the elderly are over-medicated… children are over-managed.
And the biggest tool used to control parents?
“Well-checks.”
Who came up with that phrase? A room full of marketing people — not doctors. Because it sounds nurturing. It sounds safe. But what actually happens?
- Pressure
- Screenings
- Metrics
- Pushy recommendations
- And of course — vaccinations
And here’s the part that makes me furious:
They don’t tell mothers they can refuse.
They don’t tell them it’s not mandatory.
They don’t tell them exemptions exist.
They don’t tell them they have rights.
Instead, they use carefully engineered language meant to scare:
- “They’re due today.”
- “We need to keep them on schedule.”
- “Texas requires…”
- “We have to catch them up.”
- “They can’t enroll unless…”
All half-truths crafted to make a mother afraid to say no. Because a fearful mother is compliant. And compliance pays well.
IT’S NOT ABOUT HEALTH — IT’S ABOUT BILLING
Let’s not dance around it:
- Clinics get funded per compliance rate
- Insurance reimburses per shot
- “Well checks” allow more billable codes than sick visits
- Screens, referrals, and prescriptions = money
Healthy children aren’t supposed to be in medical offices every 60–90 days. But the system needs revenue. So they invented “well checks” — visits for children who are literally not sick.
The more you understand this, the more the manipulation becomes obvious.
WHY GROWING COMMUNITIES ISN’T JUST A PROJECT — IT’S A RESCUE MISSION
I’m building Growing Communities because I’m done watching:
- Elders medicated into confusion
- Children funneled into state systems
- Parents bulldozed by fear-based healthcare
- Doctors prioritize liability over truth
- Real food discouraged
- Pharmaceutical dependency treated as “normal”
Growing Communities is the alternative — the antidote.
A place where:
- Health is nutritional, not pharmaceutical
- Sunshine, movement, and clean food come first
- Parents have autonomy, not fear
- Elders are strengthened, not sedated
- Children grow naturally, not get labeled
- Mothers are supported, not intimidated
This is what community was always meant to be.
THE TRUTH MOTHERS NEED TO HEAR
You can refuse.
You are not required to comply with fear.
Vaccines are not federally mandatory.
State exemptions exist.
You do not have to accept every screening they push.
You are your child’s advocate — not the clinic’s customer.
The system survives on silence. But mothers who know their rights? They break the machine.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
I didn’t start Growing Communities because it sounded nice. I started it because I saw what happens when families don’t have a place that isn’t controlled by the state, by insurance, or by pharmaceutical agendas.
Our elderly deserve dignity and nourishment.
Our children deserve freedom and real health.
Parents deserve truth, not manipulation.
And communities deserve to be healed — not managed.
